Georgia reveals volume of funds received by internet providers of country

Internet providers operating in Georgia have received 159.1 million lari ($49.4 million) from fixed internet from January through July 2020, up from 150.11 lari ($46.69) from the same period of the previous year, Trend reports via the Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC).

Year-on-year comparison has shown over 6 percent growth in retail income. Magticom and Silknet, the leading market players share the main, in particular, 80 percent of income, leaving the remaining 20 percent for other 132 companies.

According to the GNCC, the number of fixed internet subscribers in Georgia stood at 931,937 as of July 2020, up from 884,618 subscribers as of July 2019.

The number of active internet providers amounted to 135 in July of the current year. The list of top five companies incorporates Magticom, Silknet, SkyTel, Akhali Kselebi, and Akhteli.

Retail income as of January-July 2020 among the main market players has been distributed in the following way: Magticom – 74.25 million lari ($23.09 million), Silknet – 55.73 million lari ($17.3 million), Akhali Kselebi – 4.13 million lari ($1.28 million), SkyTel – 3.94 million lari ($1.24 million) and Akhteli – 2.25 million lari ($699,875).
