Singapore is ready to share with Uzbekistan its experience in forming a transparent digital government, Trend reports referring to the information service of the Supreme Assembly of Uzbekistan.

Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoyev and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore Jessica Tan Soon Neo exchanged views on further intensifying cooperation between Uzbekistan and Singapore, in particular, in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade, economic, financial, and educational spheres.

Deputy speaker outlined that in recent years there has been a significant intensification of bilateral relations, both government and business circles of the two countries.

“This trend is a favorable precondition for further deepening cooperation on issues of mutual interest,” she said.

The government of Singapore, like other countries in the world, is making the greatest possible effort to combat the spread of Covid-19. After all, the pandemic had a negative impact on the preservation and creation of jobs and social support for the population.

In this context, the Singaporean side emphasized that Uzbekistan, which has 70 percent of its population under the age of 30, has significant advantages over the aging population of Singapore. Some 6.2 percent of the population or 216,000 people in Singapore are over 65 years old.

Singapore, as a young country, is in the making. In this context, Uzbekistan is a vivid example of the historical experience of building statehood and carrying out modern large-scale reforms. At the same time, programs of privatization, demonopolization, and economic diversification are of particular interest.

In turn, the deputy speaker expressed her readiness to share the experience of Singapore on the eradication of corruption, the formation of a transparent digital government, whose activities are based on close cooperation with the civil society.

The parties also considered the prospects for further enhancing interaction in education and the financial sector. The issues of the development of the stock and securities market, information and communication technologies, the eradication of corruption, the fight against international fundamentalism and extremism have also been discussed at the meeting.
