Some 96 percent of companies don’t back up data, Azerbaijani AzCLOUD company’s expert Farrukh Farajullayev said during the online event ‘Timely data backup will help avoid data loss’, Trend reports on Dec.22,

According to Farajullayev, 93 percent of companies that lost their data and failed to return it during 10 or more days declare bankruptcy within one year. In half of the cases, this occurs namely so, because the business sectors cannot implement data management.

"The main reasons for data loss are the following: data can be deleted in case of any accidents, data storage gaps, internal (personnel-related) and external (hacker and fraudulent) threats to data storage security, non-compliance with legal and regulatory requirements of the company, malfunction of IT infrastructure," he stressed.

The expert noted that, according to IBM, the world's companies suffered damages of $3.62 million in 2017, $3.86 million in 2018, and $3.92 million in 2019 as a result of the data loss. Along with economic damages, a company may lose the trust of its customers.

"In 51 percent of cases, the company may lose the trust of its customers, in 44 percent - damage will be suffered by the company's brand, in 33 percent - employees of the company will also cease to trust the stability of the company, in 21 percent - the value of the company's shares may decrease and only in 16 percent of cases the company can be deprived of accreditation or its license," pointed out Farajullayev.

He said that companies can avoid all of the above problems by using cloud storage technologies.

"When using cloud technologies, the risks of data loss are based on the principles of 3-2-1: at the first stage, three copies of data are created, then two copies are placed on different servers, and one (third) copy is on a third-party server," he emphasized.

Besides, as he noted, the speed of data transfer from its physical carrier to cloud technologies of AZCLOUD company, unlike, is three times faster than international solutions.

"On average, data is recorded in the company’s cloud within 15 minutes, while in the international cloud - within 44 minutes, and the data recovery process takes less than 20 minutes," summed up the expert.
