Russia forms list of co-op areas potentially of interest to Turkmenistan

Russia has formed a list of areas of cooperation that could be of interest to Turkmenistan, in particular, the development of bilateral cooperation in the information and communication sphere, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media told Trend.

The message said that the list of areas in particular included the exchange of experience in the field of e-government, smart cities, network security, information infrastructure, and staff development of the communication industry of Turkmenistan and training of students in the field of ICT.

"The proposals are discussed in the course of regular inter-agency contacts," said the ministry.

The ministry added that, in particular, the proposals announced on June 19, 2020 during a meeting in the videoconference mode of the Co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, during which the Russian side also invited representatives of the Turkmen side to visit Moscow to discuss specific projects within the proposed areas of cooperation.

"Among the areas that will receive additional attention in the near future are smart cities, digitalization of various sectors of the economy, digitalization in the field of education," the ministry emphasizes.

According to the ministry, currently a number of companies are actively working in the Turkmen market and are implementing projects in the field of telecommunications and information security.
