Uzbekistan improves indicators for fixed broadband and mobile internet

Uzbekistan climbed 10 positions up in the monthly rating of the Speedtest Global Index at the end of January 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan.

Ookla has published data from the Speedtest.net service on the monthly Speedtest Global Index for January 2021.

According to the data for January 2021, Uzbekistan ranks 94th in the overall rating in terms of fixed broadband speed. It is reported that data download speed in the country amounts to 34.62 megabits per second (Mbit/s).

At the same time, the indicators of the mobile internet have also improved. So, at the end of January 2021, the speed of the mobile internet in Uzbekistan amounted to 12.94 Mbit/s. It is reported that Uzbekistan on this indicator has climbed by two points and today holds the 128th position.

In addition, over the past two years, Uzbekistan has noticeably improved its position in the global Internet ranking. Thus, over the past two years (from January 2019 to January 2021), the speed of the fixed internet in Uzbekistan has more than tripled - from 10.89 Mbit/s in January 2019 to 34.26 Mbit/s in January 2021.

In January 2020, Uzbekistan took the 104th place among 180 countries in the rating for the speed of fixed Internet, while in January 2021 Uzbekistan climbed 10 positions up and now holds the 94th place.
