Introduction of smart projects stimulates development of IoT technologies in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 26

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The introduction of IoT (Internet of Things) technologies in Azerbaijan began quite recently, Nurlan Rahimli, electronics engineer at Beta Dynamics company, told Trend.

"Most of the solutions in the field of IoT (Internet of Things) were presented by local companies at the Bakutel 2019 exhibition," Rahimli added. "The development of this sphere is already underway and the best explanation for this is smart home systems."

"About three local companies are engaged in the development of IoT technologies in Azerbaijan by supplying smart home systems," he added.

Rahimli added that IoT solutions are in great demand in the projects of "smart" houses, "smart" cities, as well as in agriculture.

"The biggest problem in our country is that even in the morning, the lamps are left on, which leads to the wasted energy consumption," electronics engineer said. "After all, the use of smart lamp posts makes sense to create smart cities."

Moreover, Rahimli stressed that there are a number of devices developed by Beta Dynamics and related to the Internet of Things in the local market.

"One of such solutions is the so-called IoT gateway or IoT central control system," Rahimli said. "Through this device we can control smart home and city sensors and agricultural sensors and also act as a meteorological station which is used to collect soil and weather data. This device is currently used at the Institute of Agriculture. Our local solution competes with and surpasses the UK-made device in data transfer speed and reliability."

"If the state invests enough funds in the companies working in the field of IoT, electronics and IT, then IoT can change not only the future of Azerbaijan, but also the future of several countries," he said.

"The main factor here is that these things can be done by Azerbaijani specialists," Rahimli added. "The most important thing is that it will improve people's living conditions and reduce energy consumption. I think that at present, the most necessary solution in Azerbaijan is to reduce energy consumption through IoT technologies."
