BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar.9

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

Consistent measures are being taken to develop communications and new technologies in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR) and to provide the population with high-speed communications and Internet services, Trend reports referring to the AR’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies

According to the ministry, during the last month, within the ‘Optics to Home’ project, fiber-optic communication lines were laid in five houses.

"The project is being implemented on the basis of GPON technology (gigabit passive optical network that meets modern standards). This technology provides broadband Internet connection and high-quality user service," the ministry said.

Work on the organization of high-communication services, the introduction, and development of new technologies, as well as the provision of model communications and Internet services, will continue in the republic, added the ministry.

In Nakhchivan AR during February 2021, 900 subscribers were connected via the ADSL line, and the number of new generation Internet cards such as NGN (multi-service communication networks) was increased to 160 in the villages of Chanlibel, Alinja, Aliabad, Garachug, and up to 256 at the central automatic telephone exchange station of Nakhchivan city.
