Azerbaijan's IT company sets co-op with US Cloudflare

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar.17

By Sadraddin Aghjayev – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s Stell Technologies company has the ability to protect projects of its customers from DoS/DDoS attacks by using the Cloudflare service, Director of the company Ali Aliyev told Trend.

According to Aliyev, Stell Technologies is the exclusive partner of Cloudflare in Azerbaijan.

"Cloudflare is conventionally a network of content delivery and protection against DDoS attacks. This US company has more than 100 data centers around the world. Recently, one such center has appeared in our country. This will maximize the speed of content transfer for the local users," he said.

The director of the company also said that Stell Technologies has presented a completely new innovative IT solution in Azerbaijan.

According to him, this is about a new standard of WiFi connection (WiFi 6), which has the functions of supporting the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division), joint operation of MU-MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), and OFDMA, as well as Target Wake Time, functions.

"Ideally, simultaneous support for 2.4 and 5 GHz helps to increase the number of scenarios for working with multiple devices. However, in practice, this advantage may be non-useful. There are too many legacy devices on the market (which support 2.4 GHz), and that’s why new devices will regularly work in compatibility mode," Aliyev noted.

He emphasized that Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is essentially a ‘multi-user’ version of OFDM.

"It allows divide the signal into subcarriers and allocate groups of them for processing separate data streams. In addition, it will make it possible to synchronously broadcast data to several Wi-Fi 6 clients at an average speed, provided that all their devices must necessarily support this standard, otherwise, old gadgets become again non-useful,” he added.

Aliyev pointed out that in Wi-Fi 5 (the old designation is 802.11ac), MIMO technology allowed transmitting data to four clients by using different subcarriers. Wi-Fi 6 doubled the number of possible device connections to eight.

The company’s director further noted that the innovative solution (Wi-Fi 6) implemented by Stell has a Target Wake Time feature, which allows devices to hibernate and ‘wake up' on a schedule.

"This function determines the time when the device is idle or working. If the gadget doesn’t transmit data for a specific period of time (for example, at night), its Wi-Fi connection hibernates, saving battery power and reducing network congestion. For each device ‘target wake-up time’ is set, when a conditional laptop always transmits data (for example, during business hours in corporate networks), during such periods the hibernation mode won’t be activated," he stressed.

To date, the WiFi-6 internet connection standard has been implemented at the Marriott Court Yard Hotel and in the Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (the equipment was supplied free of charge) in Baku.

Cloudflare is a US company providing CDN services, DDoS protection, secure resource access, and DNS servers.
