Azerbaijan enters list of countries with lowest cost for 1GB of mobile internet

Azerbaijan has entered the list of countries with the cheapest cost for 1GB of mobile internet, Trend reports referring to UK’s Cable.co.uk analytical website.

According to the website, the CIS is one of the cheapest regions in the world in terms of the cost of mobile internet. So, the average cost of 1GB in Azerbaijan makes up $1.82, while in neighboring countries its cost is several times less.

For example, the cost of 1GB of mobile data in Kazakhstan is 59 cents, in Kyrgyzstan – 15 cents, in Uzbekistan – 6o cents, in Tajikistan - $2.6, in Russia - 29 cents, in Ukraine - 75 cents, and in Belarus - 43 cents.

Kyrgyzstan is second-cheapest in the world overall, ahead of Russia (6th) and Belarus (13th).

Besides, according to 42 different criteria, as of January 28, 2021, the average cost of 1GB of internet in Azerbaijan made up $1.82, while the cheapest price was 24 cents, and the highest - $9.8.

The most expensive mobile internet is in African countries, including Equatorial Guinea ($49.67) and Malawi ($25.46), as well as island states in the Atlantic Ocean - Falkland Islands ($44.56), followed by Saint Helena ($39.87), and São Tomé and Príncipe ($30.97).

The list of countries with the cheapest mobile internet includes such countries as Israel – 5 cents for 1GB of data transmission over a mobile network, Kyrgyzstan - 15 cents, Fiji – 19 cents, Italy and Sudan - 27 cents each.

Overall, data from 6,148 mobile data plans in 230 countries were gathered and analyzed by Cable.co.uk between 8 December 2020 and 25 February 2021.
