GSMA predicts growth in number of mobile service users in Azerbaijan by 2025

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The number of new users of mobile services in Azerbaijan by 2025 will be nearly 800,000 due to the services' 66-percent penetration through the country, Tahir Ismayilov, Strategic Engagement Director of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA Association) in Russia and the CIS told Trend on May 17.

According to Ismayilov, owing to the above and the increase in the number of tariffs with mobile Internet service in the coming years, Azerbaijan's mobile operators have the potential for revenue growth.

The association’s representative noted that due to the fact that 95 percent of Azerbaijan's population lives in territories covered by mobile networks, and ARPU (Average revenue per user) in the country is about $4.9, there are all the conditions for maximum penetration in the coming years of mobile services with the support of mobile Internet.

GSMA is a world industry association uniting over 750 mobile operators in 218 countries of the world.
