Cost of mobile Internet in Georgia decreases

The cost of mobile Internet in Georgia has decreased, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Communication Commission.

As of March 2021, the average cost of one gigabyte of the Internet on the market is 0.80 lari (24.90 cents), which is 0.44 tetri (13.70 cents) less than the price for the same period in 2020 - 1.24 lari (39 cents).

With the reduction of tariffs in the market, the number of subscribers using 4G services is growing. Currently, 2.9 million subscribers use mobile Internet, which is 11 percent more than in 2020.

Only 59 percent of valid SIM cards in Georgia use mobile Internet.

In 2020, the consumption of mobile Internet in Georgia increased by 119 percent and reached 192,337 terabytes.

However, the growth trend continued in 2021, and the amount of Internet consumed in March was 22,400 terabytes, which is 76 percent more than in the previous year.

The consumption of mobile Internet per subscriber also increased and averaged 8 GB.
