The import of mobile phones in Uzbekistan from January through April 2021 increased by 399,568 compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
According to the committee, during the reporting period Uzbekistan imported 628,885 mobile phones. The total cost of supplies for the period under review amounted to more than $45 million.
It is reported that most often devices were imported to Uzbekistan from China – 422,000, Vietnam -73,000 and Kazakhstan – 63,500.
In addition, as of April 1, 2021, the number of subscribers connected to the mobile communication system in Uzbekistan amounted to 26.9 million people, which is 10.8 percent or 2.6 million people more than the corresponding period of 2020 (24.3 million).
Earlier it was reported that the level of mobile communication coverage of settlements in Uzbekistan reached 98 percent. This year, it is planned to increase the total number of stations to 33,700, and thereby bring the level of mobile coverage to 99 percent.
Also, recently, 5,641 base stations of mobile communication have been installed and put into operation - their total number has been brought to 31,740.
