BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. There is a possibility of innovation center branches to be opened in Azerbaijan's Lankaran, Mingachevir, and Nakhchivan cities, Inara Valiyeva, Chairperson of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan told Trend.
"The innovation center in Baku is now officially operational, marking a significant step forward in our mission to foster technological advancement and collaboration. Our upcoming plans include establishing additional centers in Sumgait and Ganja, with potential expansions into other cities as well. Our strategy emphasizes strong partnerships with local businesses. Recently, representatives from Lankaran and Mingachevir reached out to us to explore collaborative opportunities, and we are eager to pursue these partnerships. While we have confirmed plans for centers in Sumgait and Ganja, we are also actively considering options in Nakhchivan, Lankaran, Mingachevir, and other regions," she said.
To note, the Innovation and Digital Development Agency was founded as a public legal organization under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport by a decree issued by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on October 11, 2021.
The agency is dedicated to organizing digital transformation efforts around the country, cultivating a local innovation environment, and strengthening the entire ecosystem. The agency's primary focus areas include conducting nuclear science and technology tests, assisting individuals and entities in innovation-driven scientific research and startups, facilitating the adoption of modern technologies, ensuring accessible educational and career opportunities in the ICT sector, and establishing and managing the digital government and society.
