Sonya Brayovich-Bratanovich, the specialist of the World Bank (WB), also head of the project on development of financial services, is on visit to Baku. The goal of the visit is to get familiar with the course of the implementation of the project on improvement of the post system in Azerbaijan for rendering financial services, the Azerbaijani Communictaions and Information Technologies Ministry told Trend.
The visit of specialists will last till 14 February.
The Communications Ministry noted that financial and banking services would be rendered by the enterprises and the offices of Azerpocht State Enterprise from 2007. Azerpocht is due to receive appropriate license to be connected up the national payment system.
1,000 new jobs are envisaged to be opened as a result of the measures within the project.
The project is implemented within the state program on development of communications and telecommunications in Azerbaijan for 2005-2008. The total value of the 3-year project comprises $17.5m. WB will allocate $12.25m loan, the rest part will fall to the Azerbaijani government.
It should be mentioned that the enterprise had 1,273 post offices and 179 post agents.
