On December 5, a concluding round table was held dedicated to the results of the public discussion stage of the terminological dictionary (glossary) of the operations systems Microsoft Windows Vista and Pack of Microsoft Office 2007 in the Azeri language, Trend reports.
Organized by the Microsoft Azerbaijan, the meeting brought together the representatives of the State bodies, private IT companies, education institutions and NGOs.
The Forum was conducted with the opening ceremony of the Information Technologies Center in the State Management Academy. In his speech, the Rector of SMA, Seyfaddin Gandilov properly highlighted the coincidence of these two events, noting their importance from the point of view of applying key technologies in the scientific and academic sphere and realization of the E-Azerbaijan project.
The Chief of the Information Resources and Technology Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Elmir Valizade, who is also the moderator of the project, opened the round table.
According to him, the working group comprises of 11 persons from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, Education Ministry, Baku State University, National Academy of Sciences and other Institutions.
Within the month, the working group has made corrections to 254 words and word-combinations from 2,051 words. Nearly 12% of words sustained changes. For this period, 581 proposals were received, 57 of which were accepted. As per the website, 35 users have been registered, 14 of which made 88 proposals regarding the glossary, Valizade said. Thereafter, he presented the concluding options for the translation of several more disputable words (save, message, mouse, browser, download etc.) to the attention of the participants
The glossary has been prepared within the contract concluded between Microsoft Azerbaijan and its official partner in Azerbaijan - Sinam Ltd.
After the concluding translation of all terms, the work over the glossary will be completed. The prepared terminological dictionary of Microsoft Azerbaijan will be issued to Sinam Ltd to translate all the interface of the new products of the corporation into Azeri language and create a special Language Interface Pack. It is expected that the Azerbaijani users will be able to use the localized products in summer of 2007.
