Over January-November, 2006, the Azerbaijan Telecommunication and IT Ministry installed 196,348 telephone numbers into operation, a source in the Ministry told Trend. 135,900 telephone numbers was installed by the Production Association Baki Telefon Rabitasi (BTRIB) (Baku Telephone Network), the rest by PA Aztelekom.
The investments in this period exceeded 30 mln. AZN. They were forwarded to the reconstruction of the telecommunication facilities, laying new telephone circuits both in the Capital and regions of the Country.
In 2005, the Telecommunication Ministry installed 164,185 telephone numbers. It was by 42,611 numbers more versus 2004.
Being the key enterprise of the Telecommunications and IT Ministry, Aztelekom is providing the population of the country with international and intercity telecommunication, including Baku City and Nakhchivan Autonomous republic. Totally 54 enterprises, as well as the Baku International Telephone Exchange, Cable Main Technical Exchange, and Maintenance and Construction Department are subjected to the Production Association.
PA Baki Telefon Rabitasi is offering services of telephone and radio connection to State Bodies, Public Agencies, enterprises, organizations, as well as foreign citizens on the territory of Baku. It includes 8 telecommunication enterprises, the Connection Plants Installation and Repair Department, and Projects-Search Office Azarrabitalayiha.
