Russia leads in number of international visits to Georgia

The number of international visits (Georgia’s non-resident travellers of age 15 or older, who accomplished visit from their area of residence to Georgia) to Georgia from Russia in July-August decreased, compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

However, following the results of January-August 2019, Russia remains the leader in the number of visits. In mentioned period, visits from this country increased by 14.6 percent compared to January-August 2018.

According to data published by the National Tourism Administration, in August 207,899 international visits from Russia were made to Georgia, which is 8.5 percent less than a year earlier.

In August, the number of tourist visits (tourist is a visitor who spent at least one night in a country’s territory) from Russia amounted to 148,298, which is 17 percent less compared to the same period last year.

In July, the number of international visits from Russia amounted to 159,063, which is 6.4 percent less than in July 2018.

In January-August 2019, 6,320,516 international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) visited Georgia, which is 7.2 percent more than in the same period of the year.
