Uzbekistan took first place among countries visited by Russian tourists for holidays, Trend reports citing data from Russian State Committee for Tourism.
Russian experts using the tutu.ru ticket purchase service conducted a study on the sale of airline tickets from January 2018 to the end of September 2019. According to the results of the study, a list of the 3 most popular destinations among Russians for recreation was compiled.
Moreover, experts determined which Russian cities travel to Uzbekistan more often. The three leaders included: Moscow (66.1 percent), St. Petersburg (9.2 percent) and Novorossiysk (3.9 percent).
Trips to Uzbekistan in Krasnodar, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Tyumen, Krasnoyarsk and Voronezh are also in demand. The population of Moscow and St. Petersburg is relatively larger than other cities and therefore they hold leading positions in the list.
Along with this, the abundance of direct flights from Moscow to Uzbekistan is also one of the reasons for the leadership of Uzbekistan’s capital of Tashkent.
According to statistics, the number of Russians who arrived in Uzbekistan for 9 months of 2019 amounted to 353,771 people, which is 26.8 percent more compared to the same period last year.
