Uzbekistan was visited by 6.5 million tourists in 2019, said the report of Uzbekistan’s State Committee for Tourism, Trend reports via the committee's statement.
The report said that in comparison, the country was visited by 5.3 million tourists in 2018.
Of the 6.5 million, 81.8 percent arrived in Uzbekistan to visit their relatives and friends, and 15.5 percent went on vacation. Some 2.7 percent of citizens came for treatment, shopping, participation in business meetings and studies.
In addition, 51.3 percent of arrivals were people aged 31–55 years old, 20.2 percent - 55 years old and older, 19.5 percent - 19-30 years old, and 9.1 percent - people aged 0 −18 years.
The largest number of tourists came from the Central Asian region - 5.7 million people; 495,600 tourists came from the CIS countries. The number of visitors from non-CIS countries amounted to 488,400 people.
Most tourists came from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan, China, South Korea and India.
