Uzbekistan, Indonesia consider establishing co-op in hotel business and tourism

Uzbekistan and Indonesia discussed issues of enhancing cooperation in the development of the hotel business and tourism, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov had a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Indonesian Parliament for Industry and Development Rachmad Gobel during which the prospects for deepening Uzbek-Indonesian cooperation in the political, investment, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

The parties noted the importance of intensifying mutual contacts, including through mutual visits of government and business circles of the two countries.

It was agreed that in the near future the relevant ministries and departments of both states will start preparing for the holding in the second half of this year of the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Indonesia, as well as the Uzbek-Indonesian Business Forum in Tashkent.

Also, a visit of the Uzbek delegation to Jakarta will be organized for bilateral meetings and negotiations with the leadership of the ministries and departments of Indonesia.

In addition, an agreement was reached on the development of promising projects for the creation of joint ventures in the agricultural, electrical, chemical, footwear, and leather goods industries with the prospect of subsequent export of manufactured products to the CIS countries, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

The parties also indicated their readiness to implement practical measures to increase the volume of bilateral trade by expanding mutual supplies of Uzbek and Indonesian products that are in demand in the markets of the two countries, as well as strengthening the relevant legal framework by accelerating preparations for signing agreements on preferential trade and cooperation in the field plant quarantine.

Special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing cooperation in the development of the hotel business and tourism. In particular, in August this year, a visit to Uzbekistan of representatives of the Council of Ulema of Indonesia (Council of Senior Scholars) is scheduled with the inclusion of Indonesian business circles in its composition in order to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the field of pilgrim tourism between the countries.
