BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19. The number of foreigners and stateless persons from 138 countries who visited Azerbaijan from January through February 2022 has notably increased, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, this indicator amounted to 150,400, which is 2.1 times more, on an annual basis.

The committee said that 33.1 percent of the foreigners and stateless persons came from Russia, 24.3 percent - Turkey, 13.1 percent - Iran, 5.8 percent - Georgia, 3.4 percent - Saudi Arabia, 2.6 percent - UAE, 2.1 percent - Ukraine, 1.9 percent - Kuwait, 1.2 percent – the UK, and 1.1 percent - Kazakhstan.

Some 0.9 percent of the visitors accounted for India and Oman each, 0.7 percent - Germany and Pakistan each, 0.6 percent - the US, 0.5 percent - Belarus and Israel each, and 6.6 percent - other countries.

Some 81 percent of those who visited the country from January through February 2022 were men, and 19 percent - women.

Besides, according to the committee, 43.3 percent of the foreigners and stateless persons arrived in Azerbaijan by rail and road, 54.8 percent by air, and 1.9 percent by sea.

The number of the visitors from Oman increased by 658 times, Saudi Arabia - 460.7 times, Kuwait - 200.6 times, UAE - 54.2 times, Bahrain - 36.3 times, Israel - 11 times, Pakistan - 9.7 times, India - 9.2 times, the US - 4.3 times, France - 3.5 times, and Kazakhstan - 3.1 times year on year.

At the same time, the number of the visitors from Russia grew by 2.1 times, the UK - two times, Ukraine - 1.8 times, Iran - 1.8 times, Turkey - 1.8 times, and Georgia - by 1.2 times compared to 2M2021.
