Applications for investing in Iran’s Chabahar port grow 33%

Applications for investing in the Shahid Beheshti port in Chabahar district of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province increased by 33 percent during the eight months (March 21 – November 21) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), said Behrouz Aghaei, director general of Sistan and Baluchestan Ports and Maritime Department, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) website.

Aghaei noted that 48 companies were ready to invest in the Shahid Beheshti port for the eight months, adding that in the same period last year, 36 applications were received for investment in the port.

The director general said that over 150 local and foreign delegates were familiarized with this port last year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019). At the same time, private sector investments worth 10 trillion rials (about $238 million) have been attracted to the port, Aghaei added.

The director expressed hope that by the end of this Iranian year (March 21, 2020), the Shahid Beheshti port will attract investments worth 6 trillion rials (about $142 million).

In addition, two contracts for the construction of a warehouse and a petroleum storage depot have been signed at the port, Aghaei said.
