Turkey reveals data on half-year cargo shipment from Egypt via its ports

The volume of cargo transshipment from Egypt through the ports of Turkey surpassed 9.7 million tons in the first half of 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

From January through June 2020, the volume of cargo shipment from Egypt by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to nearly 1.5 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – over 8.2 million tons.

According to the ministry, 5,665 tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Egyptian flag during the indicated period.

Around 791,650 tons of goods were handled in transit from Egypt through the Turkish ports.

In 1H2020, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports amounted to 179.6 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 14.3 million tons.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 6.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 158.3 million tons.

Over 36.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the ports of Turkey during the first six months of this year.

In June 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey amounted to 28.1 million tons. At the same time, the volume of cargo transshipment by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.4 million tons.

The volume of transshipment of goods through the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to 24.6 million tons.

In June 2020, 5.4 million tons of cargo were transported in transit through the ports of Turkey.
