Volume of cargo transportation from Iran to Russia through Azerbaijan by railway increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 3

By Jeyhun Alakbarov – Trend:

The subsidiary company of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Express LLC has increased some types of cargo which is transited through Azerbaijan, Trend reports on Sept. 3 referring to ADY Express.

First of all, this can be attributed to cargo transportation within the North-South International Transport Corridor.

The volume of dairy products and fruits which is transported along the Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia route passing through the Astara cargo terminal is being increased.

ADY Express has already transported 1,000 tons of milk powder and cheese from Iran to Russia. Moreover, the company delivered 5,050 tons of fruits from Astara to Astrakhan within two months.

Cargo was transported by the company's refrigerated wagons. The wagons were loaded at the Astara cargo terminal (Iran) and sent to their destinations along the North-South International Transport Corridor.

ADY Express also transited biscuits and tea from Iran to Tajikistan along the Astara-Alat-Caspian Sea-Kazakhstan-Tajikistan route through Azerbaijan, which was an innovation both in the choice of the route and the type of the transported cargo. These cargoes were also transported by the company's refrigerated trucks.
