Iran announces date for launch of Ardabil-Mianeh railway

The Ardabil-Mianeh railway line in northwestern Iran will be launched next summer, Director for Plan and Budget Department of Ardabil Province, Davoud Shaeighi said, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to Shaeighi, in this regard, 6 trillion rials (about $143 million) will be spent on the construction of the railway line in next Iranian year until end of the summer (August 22, 2021).

The director added that a total of 10.7 trillion rials (about $254 million) is estimated to be spent on the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line.

"So far, 3.16 trillion rials (about $75.2 million) has been spent and 4 trillion rials (about $95 million) will be provided by the Bank Melli Iran," he said.

Shaeighi noted that so, 7.6 trillion rials (about $ 180 million) will be spent on the construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line by the end of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021).

The construction of Iran's Ardabil-Mianeh railway began in 2015. The 175-kilometer-long Ardabil-Mianeh railway has 62 tunnels with a length of 23.8 km.
