A memorandum on the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran on the railway sector was signed in the Iranian capital Tehran, Trend reports citing IRIB.
The cooperation memorandum was signed by the Director of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Javid Gurbanov and Deputy Minister for Roads and Urban Development and the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) Saeed Rasouli.
According to the memorandum, the transit between the two countries will increase to 2 million tons annually.
Both sides agreed to the development of railway cooperation within the memorandum.
As reported, despite the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the transit of goods via railways between the two countries exceeded 480,000 tons in the last year.
