Uzbekistan reports increase in cars imports for 2020

Uzbekistan’s cars import in 2020 exceeded their export by 2.2 times, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan in 2020 imported cars worth $475.1 million, while cars worth $208.7 million were exported during the reported period.

At the same time, it is reported that car exports in the country grew by 30 percent, and the growth of imports slowed down to 7 percent.

In autumn 2020 it became known that Kazakhstan is the main market for domestic cars. It was noted that more than 10,000 cars are sent there a year. The three leaders also include Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

Earlier, it was also reported that UzAuto Motors set a production record in 2020. Some 280,000 cars rolled off the assembly line this year, which is double the same figure in 2017.

According to the information, most Cobalt brand cars were released in the amount of 79,908. It is followed by Nexia - 66,402 cars, Damas / Labo - 60,715 cars, Gentra - 50,052 cars and Spark with 23,003 cars produced.

The company also spoke about the dynamics of production since 1996, when 62,000 vehicles were produced. It turned out that the Nexia had been the most mainstream model for decades before being replaced by Cobalt.
