Iran to allocate funds for Ardabil-Mianeh railway line construction

A total of 5 trillion rials (about $119 million) will be paid on the construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line in the Ardabil Province (northwestern Iran) in cooperation with the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran and the Bank Melli Iran over the next two months (starting March 21, 2021), the Governor of Iran’s Ardabil Province Akbar Behnamjoo said, Trend reports citing the governor office’s website.

He made the remark while inspecting the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line with the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Abbas Khatibi.

The governor noted that 2.4 trillion rials (about $57 million) was paid on the construction of this railway line at the end of last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

Behnamjoo added that the rails of the railway line are purchased from local Iranian companies. About 52 kilometers of rails have already been laid on the railway line.

"The railway infrastructure will be fully ready within the next 3 months," he said.

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Abbas Khatibi emphasized that infrastructure work of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line has been completed by 88 percent. In addition, there is 97-percent progress in work at 1st station, and the work will be completed within the next two months.

According to Khatibi, it is planned to be put this railway line into operation within 6 months with the solution of problems and the creation of favorable conditions.

The construction of Iran's Ardabil-Mianeh railway began in 2015. The 175-kilometer long Ardabil-Mianeh railway has 62 tunnels with a length of 23.8 km.

A total of 10.7 trillion rials (about $254 million) is to be spent on the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line.
