The construction work on the connection of the Ardabil Province railway line (northwestern Iran) to Azerbaijan will be launched next Iranian year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Iranian MP Sodeif Badri told IRNA, Trend reports.

The MP noted that railway lines on the North-South Corridor through Iran's Ardabil Province will be improved with the construction of this railway line.

Badri added that the research on the construction of the Ardabil-Parsabad railway in Iran's Ardabil Province are in the final stages.

“The construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line has been accelerated due to the connection of Ardabil Province to the Iranian railway network. Currently, this railway line is being built by the Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarters,” he said.

Reportedly, Iran's Ardabil-Parsabad railway will be about 250 km long.

The construction of Iran's Ardabil-Mianeh railway began in 2015. The 175-kilometer long Ardabil-Mianeh railway has 62 tunnels with a length of 23.8 km.

A total of 10.7 trillion rials (about $254 million) is to be spent on the Ardabil-Mianeh railway line. The railway line is to be launched this year (2021).
