Turkey unveils volume of transshipped cargo via local ports from Russia

Over 19.6 million tons of cargo had been transported from Russia via ports of Turkey in the first four months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

According to the ministry, in the reporting period more than 1.5 million tons of cargo were delivered from Russia by ships flying the flag of Turkey, and over 14.9 million tons by ships flying the flags of other countries to Turkish ports.

Meanwhile, over 3.1 million tons of cargo were delivered by ships flying Russian flag to the mentioned ports, and the same volume of cargo from Russia had been transited via the ports, the ministry said.

In total, over 124.9 million tons of cargo had been transported through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Around 9.8 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag through the local ports. About 115.1 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the flags of other countries through the Turkish ports from January through April 2021.

Moreover, 24.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period. In general, 33.8 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in April 2021.

Furthermore, nearly 2.7 million tons of cargo were transported by the ships flying the Turkish flag in the mentioned month. At the same time, 31.1 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports by the ships flying the flags of other countries.

Thus, over 6.3 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in April this year.
