Iran's largest port warehouse to be put into operation

A 100,000-ton grain warehouse will be put into operation in the Chabahar port of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) over the next Iranian year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Director-General of Ports and Maritime Department in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Behrouz Aghaei said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

The director general said that this warehouse has a dynamic potential of 600,000 tons per year. The warehouse will be equipped with a system for unloading and transporting 1,200 tons of goods per hour.

He added that the warehouse is being built to increase the capacity of port to receive ships carrying the essential products.

According to Aghaei, this warehouse will help the country's economy in reducing transportation costs and storing products.

As reported, the volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) increased by 36 percent in the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (May 22 through June 21, 2021), compared to the 2nd month (April 21 through May 21, 2021).

About 349,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port in the third month. Of this, 4,450 tons were loaded and 344,000 tons were unloaded.

Also, 2,800 tons of cargo were exported and 187,000 tons were imported through the Chabahar port over the reporting month.
