Kazakhstan's passenger transport volumes via railways jump y-o-y

Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation via railways amounted to 7.2 billion tenge ($17.2 million) in July 2021, which is 2.6 times more than in July 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue was 32.7 billion tenge ($77.3 million) over seven months of 2021, which is 15.1 percent more in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 8.2 million people over seven months, which is 25.2 percent more compared to the same period of last year (1.6 million passengers in July 2021, up by 2.3 times).

The passenger turnover amounted to 6.6 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is an increase of 33.4 percent. July’s passenger turnover was 1.4 billion pkm (2.3 times increase year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 609.3 billion tenge ($1.4 billion) over seven months of 2021, which is 8.1 percent more than during the same period of 2020.

Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in July 2021 amounted to 90.6 billion tenge ($214.3 million), which is a 1.3-percent increase in comparison to the same month of 2020.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 238.8 million tons, climbing by 2.9 percent compared to the same period of last year (34.7 million tons in July 2021, down by 2 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 170.7 billion ton-kilometers increasing by 1.2 percent compared to last year (25.3 billion in July 2021, a decrease of 1.1 percent).
