By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Georgia's air traffic in 2020 exceeded the indicators of 2019 by 15 percent, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian media.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy of the country Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgia is one of the world leaders in the dynamics of the growth of air traffic.

Kvrivishvili said that in terms of growth rates, Georgia has bypassed such countries as Spain, Germany, France, Greece, Turkey, etc., and this became possible due to the unprecedented world recognition of the efforts of the Georgian government.

“We have bypassed many developed countries in terms of the growth rate of air traffic, and this is emphasized in the EUROCONTROL report. During the COVID-19 pandemic, such a high assessment is the result of an active and purposeful policy of the government, including the Ministry of Economy,” she said.

According to her, it is due to this that many international airlines returned to the Georgian aviation sector.

“Such a high assessment from EUROCONTROL and the rapid resumption of regular flights give us a basis for positive expectations. In addition, it is a good signal to our partners and investors, international airlines, and the tourism sector,” Kvrivishvili said.
