Georgian Kutaisi Airport will be connected to Kopitnari Railway in autumn 2021, Trend reports via Georgian Ministry of Economy.
The railway station construction works will end soon and the station will serve passengers, the ministry reports.
“This station will be an important facility for Kutaisi, the private sector, and our population. The station will grow the mobility of Kutaisi and alleviate the passenger’s access to the airport”, the economy ministry reports.
As reported, top managers of WizzAir airline have also visited the station construction site. The new railway station is being built by Injmsheni 96 company that has signed a contract agreement worth 1.247 million lari ($399,841) with Georgian Railway.
The project calls for rehabilitating the station building, both the interior and exterior.
The building will be adapted to persons with disabilities, the foot-bridge will be rehabilitated and three elevators will be installed there for PwDs. The so-called shuttles will transport passengers between the airport and the railway station.
