Passenger transportation via Iran's Ahvaz International Airport declines

The number of passengers transported through Ahvaz International Airport in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) decreased by 9 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 662,111 passengers were transported through this airport in 6 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 730,945 passengers.

“Within six months, the Ahvaz International Airport received 8,840 passenger planes. This is an increase of 20 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 7,360 passenger planes were received by the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 7,010 tons of cargo were transported through this airport over 6 months. Cargo transportation increased by 12 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 6,280 tons of cargo were transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

Reportedly, Iran's Ahvaz International Airport is located on the 2,450 hectares of land.
