The ports of Azerbaijan in 10M2021 handled almost 7.3 million tons of cargo, which is 1.6 percent, or 116,000 tons more than the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee told Trend.
According to the Committee, the volume of transshipment by ports of international transit cargo amounted to 7.01 million tons, or 95.7 percent of the total volume of cargo handled, which is 3.6 percent, or 243,000 tons more than the same period in 2020.
At the beginning of November, Azerbaijan recorded 193,700 tons of cargo in its ports.
It is noted that mainly the ports of Azerbaijan transship cargo following the routes Turkey - Central Asia - Turkey, the countries of the Black Sea and Europe - Central Asia, and also carry out the transit of Chinese goods.
Last year the volume of cargo transshipment through the seaports of Azerbaijan amounted to over 8.9 million tons, of which 8.186 million tons, or 93.2 percent, accounted for international transit cargo, and 7.8 percent - for local cargo.
