The French Alstom will supply a number of electric locomotives to Azerbaijan by the end of 2021, the managing director of Alstom for Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Elshan Zeynalov told Trend.
According to Zeynalov, Alstom plans to deliver three locomotives to Baku by the end of November and three more in December.
"In total, the contract provides for the supply of 50 locomotives. Some 28 freight electric locomotives have already been delivered to Azerbaijan. Three more will arrive in November. The next delivery of three locomotives is scheduled for December. In addition, in January 2022, it is planned to supply two more locomotives to Baku and two each in February and March," Zeynalov said.
Zeynalov noted that the assembly of Alstom electric freight locomotives is carried out at a plant in the Kazakh city of Nursultan.
"The contract was signed for the supply of 10 passenger locomotives and 40 freight ones. The contract value amounts to 288.5 million euros," he added.
Alstom has been operating in the Azerbaijani market since 1997. Today, this company employs about 30 Azerbaijani specialists.
