Baku International Sea Trade Port unveils cargo transshipment for 10M2021

Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC from January through October 2021 increased cargo transshipment by 18.2 percent compared to the same period last year, the press service of the port told Trend.

According to the source, during the specified period, the port handled 4.707 million tons of cargo, which is 726,000 tons more than in 10M2020.

It is noted that that more than 90 percent of the port's cargo turnover fell on the share of transit cargo.

"The dry-cargo terminal of the port handled 956,000 tons of cargo, which is 40.6 percent, or 389,000 tons more than during the same period last year. The bulk of the cargo fell on fertilizers from Turkmenistan," the press service of the Baku port said.

In addition, the port in 10M2021 handled 35,040 TEU-containers (an increase of 1,920TEU, or 5.8 percent compared to the same period last year).

Also, the number of railway cars handled by the port during the reporting period amounted to 25,109, and of large-capacity transport (TIR) ​​– 31,969.
