Volume of cargo transshipment through Kazakhstan’s Kuryk port in 2021 unveiled

Some 974,000 tons of cargo were transshipped through Kazakhstan’s Kuryk port in 2021, the port told Trend.

Around 971,000 tons of that volume accounted for transshipment in the direction to/from Azerbaijan.

While commenting on the issue of possible modernization plans, the port said that presently, there are no such plans, however, work is underway to build a grain terminal with a capacity of up to 1 million tons per year as part of the diversification and attraction of additional volumes of cargo.

Presently, there are three seaports in Kazakhstan, namely, Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

The Aktau Sea Port is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea at the intersection of several international transport corridors.

The Bautino port in the settlement of the same name is a division of Aktau International Sea Trade Port.

The Kuryk port is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea, in the south of the Aktau port. It is able to receive ferry ships all year round.
