BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan discussed the issue of increasing cargo transportation by rail on their territory and discussions were held at the meeting of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) and Uzbekistan Railways JSC leadership in Tashkent, Trend reports citing the ADY.

The sides expressed their readiness to provide technological support in the repair of railway vehicles and the development of railway infrastructure.

"In addition, the need was expressed to continue interacting with participants in international and multimodal transport corridors. This will increase the volume of cargo transportation, speed up the passage of container trains," ADY said.

Working group headed by the heads of the railway departments of the two countries has been created to increase freight traffic and resolve bilateral issues, ADY noted.

According to Azerbaijan Railways, the next meeting of the working group will be held in late April in Baku.
