BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. Preparations for the connection of Iran’s Ardabil Province railways to the Azerbaijani railway network have already been completed, Governor of Iran’s Ardabil Province Hamid Ameli said, Trend reports citing the governor's office’s official website.
He made the remark during a meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Ali Alizada on April 26.
According to Ameli, during the 15th meeting of the State Commission on Cooperation in Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Spheres between Azerbaijan and Iran, held in Baku on March 11, 2022, discussions were conducted on the connection of the Ardabil’s Tazehkand railway to Azerbaijan railway network.
“It is hoped that the next meeting between the officials of the two countries will be held soon and the operations on the construction of the railway will begin,” he said.
The governor noted that also, discussions were conducted on the opening of the Bilasuvar border checkpoint for the passage of citizens. Soon, citizens will be able to cross the border by using the border checkpoint.
"Given the high level of trade ties between the two countries, trade relations between Iran's Ardabil Province and Azerbaijan will further increase," Ameli added.
