BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Qeshm port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 82.6 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 760,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in this port during the reporting month. Of this, 378,000 tons were loaded and 382,000 tons were unloaded.

At the same time, 54,900 tons of cargo were exported and 40,100 tons were imported through the Qeshm port in the 1st month, as well as 442 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit purposes.

Over the 1st month, 323,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 341,000 tons were unloaded in the port for cabotage.

Furthermore, 126 tons of cargo were loaded, while 167 tons were unloaded at the port for transshipment.

According to the statistics, 493 tons of essential products, 8,680 tons of construction and mining materials, 42 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, 164 tons of chemicals, about 647,000 tons of small and assorted goods, 1,980 tons of container products, and about 102,000 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the Qeshm port within the 1st month of the current Iranian year.

In general, more than 12.8 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 1st month of the current Iranian year. Of this, 6.49 million tons were loaded and 6.26 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 10.9 percent, compared to the same month last Iranian year.
