TEHRAN, Iran, Aug 1. The increasing fuel prices created problems for Iran's shipping companies, said director general of Parsagostar Shipping Company Alireza Mohammadi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Fueling one ship costs about 9 trillion rials (about $214 million) while the price of fuel is 20 percent cheaper in the neighboring countries, he said referring to the lack of fuel subsidies for the private sector.

He pointed out that Iranian cargo owners have to pay for the fuelling of domestic ships and port fees in addition to transportation costs.

According to the official, the cargo transportation prices will be reduced if the government allocates subsidized fuel to cargo ships.
