BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. The Astara (Azerbaijan)–Astara (Iran) railway construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 – beginning of 2024, Management Director at the Azerbaijani branch of Iran's Azar Raman Giti company Asad Razavizadeh told Trend on October 19.
According to him, the project envisages the building of a railway bridge, a railroad line, and a railhead.
"As of today, the railroad line has been built by 45 percent and transportation has already been launched on the finished section. In accordance with the new agreement between Azerbaijan and Iran, the relevant project is scheduled to be done for 80 percent by the end of March 2023. The construction is supposed to be fully completed by the beginning of 2024," the director said.
