ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 18. Turkmenistan will take part in the third Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS 2023) from October 17 through October 19, Trend reports.
The summit will address key aspects of the maritime industry, including decarbonization, coastal shipping, inland waterway transport, shipbuilding, ship repair and disposal, financial and insurance issues, marine clusters, innovation and technology, maritime security, as well as maritime tourism and other areas.
Furthermore, the summit is supported by the confirmed participation of 115 officials from 28 countries, including Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Norway, Mexico, the UAE, the UK, the US and many others.
It is planned that 316 memoranda of understanding will be signed at the event, as well as 86 investment projects will be presented.
The first maritime summit in India was held in Mumbai in 2016, and the second maritime summit was held virtually in 2021.
The development of the maritime industry of Turkmenistan is an important strategic direction, given its geographical location on the coast of the Caspian Sea. The country is actively investing in the modernization and expansion of port infrastructure, including the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
