Cargo transshipment through Azerbaijan's seaports increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. Azerbaijan's seaports increased cargo transshipment by 14.8 percent from January through November 2023 year-on-year - up to 12.3 million tons, Trend reports.

The data of the State Statistics Committee (SSC) of Azerbaijan shows that out of the total volume of 10.1 million tons or 82.8 percent were international transit cargoes (2.8 percent growth), 17.2 percent were local cargoes.

According to the data of the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan's ports handled 405,800 tons of cargoes as of December 1, 2023.

In addition, cargo transshipment through the seaports of Azerbaijan amounted to 11.7 million tons in 2022, which is 32.4 percent more year-on-year.

Azerbaijan has several ports on the Caspian Sea, but the largest one is in Baku and its vicinity (cargo and oil terminals in Dubendi and Sangachal, cargo terminals in Alat).
