Air traffic in Iran dropping

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. More than 192,000 passenger planes landed at and took off from Iranian airports during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC) shows that this is a decrease of 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, in the same period as the previous Iranian year, the number of flights surpassed 203,000.

Meanwhile, a total of 301,403 passenger planes landed/took off from Iranian airports over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023). This is an increase of 5.44 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).

There are 54 civil active airports in Iran. Some 14 of them are international airports. On average, 30 million passengers are transported through Iranian airports per year.
