BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. Roughly 3.7 million tons of cargo were transported from Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) to other provinces in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports.
According to him, the main shipped items were gasoline, wheat, tomatoes, cement, mineral water, potatoes, and iron ingots.
Vosughi added that around 1.85 million tons of cargo were shipped from Ardabil County, 1 million tons from Namin County, 270,000 tons from Parsabad County, 173,000 tons from Khalkhal County, and 114,000 tons from Bilasuvar County to different regions of Iran.
Meanwhile, 90 companies are operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and two cargo terminals in the province.
Overall, 4.26 million tons of cargo were transported in Iran’s Ardabil Province within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 9 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
