BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Cargo traffic by all modes of transport from January through February 2024 amounted to 35.19 million tons, which was 4.1 percent more than the figure for the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
The data of Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee showed that during the period, 75.6 percent of total freight transportation accounted for the private sector (growth of 5.3 percent year on year), and the remaining share fell to the public sector.
The committee said that 1.27 million tons of various cargo were transported by sea (an increase of 15.9 percent), 19.28 million tons by road (up 6.9 percent), and 63,100 tons by air (a rise of 22.5 percent).
Meanwhile, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan was 230.2 million tons in 2023, 5.3 percent more than in 2022.
