Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan is one of the few countries that have managed to overcome the economic crisis.

Kazakhstan 's GDP was 7.1 percent and industrial production exceeded 8 percent during the first seven months of 2011, Nazarbayev said at the opening the fifth session of the Kazakh parliament. Based on the state program industrial development boost, some 152 companies were established in 2010, and 204 more will be established in 2011.

He stated that all these achievements are the results of 20 years of independence.

"The upcoming fifth session requires a great responsibility and orderliness, as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of independence," he said.

Nazarbayev said the fifth session is of particular importance, as the fourth parliamentary convocation, whose deputies were first elected on the party lists, will be summed up.

The parliament adopted 141 laws and ratified 76 international agreements during the last session, he said.

"I think this is a sufficient gift for the anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence. I express my appreciation and gratitude for your hard work," Nazarbayev said.
